WEBSITE DESIGN & DEVELOPMENT PROCESS

WEBSITE PROJECT MANAGEMENT

Our first step is to assign a dedicated project manager to ensure timings and responsibilities are agreed and communicated effectively moving forward. This helps to ensure your project is delivered seamlessly and successfully.

Our website design and development process has been refined to be as organised and efficient as possible – ensuring your new site is delivered exactly as you need it to be. A rough structure of our process, whether you need us to design your site or just build it, can be seen below:

Our design and development process is a collaborative one where we involve the client at key points to ensure feedback is always being taken.

The first step in our process is to gather as much information as possible from the client. This includes points of interest about the project, the goals of the business, and any branding pointers. This is when we also take a look at the competition to check for running themes. Once we have as many details as possible, we can suggest certain technologies and a CMS to be utilised, and set a timeframe.

Next comes the design. Creating wireframes allows us to design a basic layout of the project and its different components. Our designer then brings your wireframes to life, creating layered PSD files. Following research into the chosen build platform and websites that already use it, around four to five templates are created. This includes the home page, an about page, products/services and contact – the key pages a client will want to see. The designs are then reviewed by the relevant teams to see if there are any additional components required for optimal conversion/SEO setup. Following these internal reviews, the designs are then sent to the client for an external review and feedback.

Onto development, coding is the main stage here where the website starts to take shape. All the pages and components are being created from scratch (we’d have it no other way) in their relevant coding languages and chosen CMS. All of this preparation is done on a staging URL where both internal and external reviews can be done at any time. Once the first version is complete, it will be tested to check for errors and if improvements can be made.

Our final step is the review, where we firstly conduct an internal review of the build to test different breakpoints to ensure the website is responsive on common device sizes. The build then undergoes internal testing from all relevant teams. This ensures that all teams involved in a project can advise if the needs of their specialty are being met. Content and assets are added – both text and images – and the website really starts to take shape. The build is then passed to the client for external review and testing.

It is assumed that the client will provide all website imagery, website photograph and website content as well as brand assets for the creation of the site.
